Outside the lab, someone in a black Mercedes chases after Susan, fires rounds at her Caddy, she barely escapes. Susan enlists the help of homicide detective Nick Hunter, who is investigating the deaths of her lab personnel. They work closely together and are drawn into a romantic relationship.

During the review of her dead associate's experimental data, Susan uncovers a horrific secret that shocks her to the core. If that weren't enough, Nick finds that Vladimir's psychopathic side kick has used the microbe to infect U.S. Senators. The revelation that Susan is responsible for senators dying devastates her. She has 72 Hours before they start falling over like dominoes. She scurries to find the antidote, but will she be able to save the senators?
